Learn the basics of 3D Studio Max 2014

Welcome to this CG Cookie tutorial series introduction 3ds max software. In this series we’ll take a tour all over the standard features trying to understand how to start working with it.

Learn the basic to start working with 3ds max covering UI, modeling, animation, shading, lighting and rendering, unlocking the complete series.

In this series we’ll make a tour about 3ds max 2014 discovering how to start working with it. We’ll make a tour about the user interface to be able to manage a scene and move around features, manage viewports etc etc, then we’ll start talking about models and meshes, 2D shapes and different techniques to model 3D objects. Next step will be animation. We’ll talk about animation principles, keyframes, curve editors, controllers and constraint, general animation tools/features in 3ds max. Then we’ll talk about how to light a scene checking different light sources and its properties, and how to manage materials talking about textures, procedurals, UVW maps and many other topics. Last part will be about rendering, we’ll talk about rendering in general, features like animation rendering, State Sets, Ram Player, different material editor, Mental Ray and iRay.
